And it not only was thrilling—I was in awe of the costuming and the dancing—but it taught me so much about the Chinese culture… To give such history for 5000 years, and give what the meaning is behind it, from going back into the spiritual history of every single dance and what it means, and to go even to a period of history where the costuming was meant to be beautiful, as were the women... It meant something during history at that time to have that kind of beauty in the costuming. And then the gods coming down—to revere the gods through the dance, and through the costuming, and the color and the dancing. I had no idea it was like that. It’s wonderful. Very very enlightening...”
